‘Reminiscing’

This piece is based on a summer photo taken during a walk in my parents town. As I was walking with my mother and her two sisters that day, I captured this view coming up to the old part of the town, previously a village. One of my aunts passed away since. The mix of charcoal and bright pigments reflects nostalgia, hope and being thankful for the memories. Natural materials used such as charcoal, plant based pigments and natural papers are essential in this piece, revealing its true feeling.

Ink drawing, charcoal and pastels, collage with plant based inks painted on Japanese and Malaysian thin papers for transparency and effects, Somerset paper.
