When I looked up
‘When I looked up’ is part of a body of work which explores the relationship between repetition, space and pattern in the urban landscape. It is based on a modernist building in San Francisco built in the 80’s on the site of a former hotel (1904) destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.
Based on a photo I took at that instant, it is my first impression looking up at that building. This is what captured my attention while walking through the city.
Exhibited at the Signal Arts Centre in September 2020.
Hanmade with rag cotton paper and painted with natural pigments
